Sunday Sunshine

And here it is... the SUNSHINE of my week...

My Sophie COULD have looked like this... in blue...BUT... it doesn't. Not even close.

#1: We are not dead. Or even injured. Not even a bit of whiplash. The car is even pretty much ok. We didn't have to drive till three AM. We got a full night's sleep. I am looking on the bright side. Happies. Happies. Happies.

(The darker side of this story is that we got rear ended in Vegas on Saturday night and the people took off so we're stuck paying a $500 deducitible to fix my poor Sophie who has an injured bumper. And dangit, people, I want those punks who took off to buy me a new "BYU Aumni" plate holder! Urgh!) Thanks for nothing, dorks. Sigh.

#2: I get to sing and dance this coming week. If my body will allow it. I've been sick sick SICK for the last three days and there is no sign of it going away. Heeeelllllp.

#3: The Cheesecake Factory. I love that place. It is SO bad for me, yet I love it so.

#4: Tomorrow is massage day. Yay.

#5: We got paid on Friday. I'm thankful for paydays.

#6: BEST. TISSUES. EVER.

#7: Long, lazy days at home in bed. I had a few of those this week as I was TRYING to prevent the cold I knew was coming. Sigh...

#8: The Bachelor is on tomorrow.

#9: I had a fun weekend putting faces with the names of Chuck's relatives. Met a lot of new people this weekend. Weddings. I love how they bring people together.

#10:
Tonight a kitty, one that looked quite similar to the one pictured above (Thank you Google "grey and white cat" image search!), ran into our house when Chuck answered the door to let in the home teacher!!! He/She (I didn't look...) walked right in and made herself at home on my lap. He/She purred and cuddled and enjoyed a long love session, and then I let said cat out back into the dark and cold winter night. Sigh.

Chuck didn't even sneeze. AND he picked the kitty up and everything.

I want a kitty, Husband. Valentines Day is in two weeks...

I named the he/she Sally.

#11: At the Vegas wedding ( TEMPLE WEDDING- totally legit- HA HA) this weekend, I met several of my "blog stalkers"! Hi Blog Stalker friends!!!! :-)

I think that's all. I'm gonna go read some more Eclipse...

Twilight-ing Away the Day...

Yes, I know. I am behind the times. (I've still only read one-and-a-half books of the Harry Potter series!) I'm trying to remedy that...

Eclipse:

Really? REALLY? Oh geez. I am a hopeless romantic, and as a fourteen-year-old giddy child I'd have been swept away by this line.

OK- I guess that's the point.

But at 28 I see this as the cheesiest line every to grace the history of literature. Thank you, Stephenie Meyer.

And PS: Edward is still just creepy. I AM enjoying these books... but CREEPY CREPPY vampire boy who watches a girl in her sleep is just a little too intense for me. The End.

The most enjoyable part of your show, every week, is the commentary made by my husband as he pauses, comments, and restarts the DVR. It is a highlight of my week. Thank you for making you, and all those woman, available to mock and awe over. Commentary quote of the episode by Chuckie: "This is GRADE A Reality television right here!" (In reference to Jake walking out of the rose ceremony... "What would YOU do Chris? Do I HAVE to give out two more roses???" Waaaaaa. Poor stressed out Jakey Poo.

I do believe that the shining star of this week was the simple and stunning piano version of "On The Wings of Love" that played in the background during your romantical "hide and go seek" romp through the vineyard with Miss Gia and her heels. Ha. REALLY? OK, and Gia, the truth is like I like you, but seriously honey, that laugh and the lips have GOT to go. At that rose ceremony last night those electric lips were seriously disturbing.

A close second to the best moment of this week was when you, Jake, burned the rose after your two-on-one date with Kathryn (who are you again, Kathryn?? Oh yeah- the chick that wore the short Barbie dress on the first night...) and Ella. I could hear the producer in the background giving instructions, "OK Jake... now walk down the stairs looking hopeless and dejected... good, GOOD. Spin the rose in your hand... take a little more time....good. Now glance at the rose one last time, great, and toss it into the fire!" Jake, you're so, like, good at acting. :-)

WHO IS THIS JESSIE CHICK?? Well, she's off now so it doesn't matter, but really? Who was she???? That green eye shadow was... mmmmm... fill in the blank.

Jake, did you feel as awkward as we all did as Ashleigh stroked your thigh and tried to get you all hot and in the mood? Yikes. That, my dear, was weird and painful as all getout. Her exit interview was quite pathetic too, I mean really, could she not TELL that he was "just not that into her?" Go ahead lady, walk away into the lone woods in your blue heels. Someone will pick you up...

Ali needs to chill out. I loved her. She's now getting just a bit too dramatic for me. Jake- just stop picking Vienna so Ali can relax, ok? Cuz she's pretty cool when she's not worried about competing with that...

I still don't like you, Vienna. I do feel bad that since Michelle is gone they HAVE to use you for any kind of drama in the series, but honestly, I just don't like you. I don't think you are pretty or smart or anything. Sigh.

Tenley, bless her heart, is still my fav, even if she DOES have RS voice.

PS: The raccoons at the end of this episode made my night. Raccoons=Funny.

And Mr. Pilot-Turned-Motorcycle Bachelor Man, can you PLEASE stop saying "you guys" ALL THE TIME??? "I'm just so proud of you guys," "You guys all look gorgeous tonight," "I'm glad you guys can get down and dirty," "I'm so excited that you guys are all here with me tonight." Blah blah blllllllllllllllllllllllllah.

Still Some Sunshine

Exhausted. Emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally... yeah. In every way. But here we go- THERE IS STILL SUNSHINE.

1. I survived what quite possibly has been the most difficult week of my life. I, along with many family members, am thankful that it is OVER. Many difficult weeks and months ahead, BUT we survived it.

2. I have grown closer to my sister than ever, and I am extremely grateful for that fact. Huge blessings come from tragedies.

3. FREE PIZZA: This, honestly, was the tender mercy of my life this week, and words cannot express how thankful I was for something so silly. I didn't want to cook on Saturday night. Refused to. So Chuck and I ordered from this little pizza joint by our house and when we went to pick it up, they'd accidentally put it in the delivery car. No pizza for us. Lame. But they cooked us a new one. Then they gave it to us for FREE. I needed that.

4. Friday night Melissa, Aubrey, and I surprised Heather with a birthday party. It was the first of its kind since we were all about seventeen, so it was fantastic. Carrabbas, a snow storm, cake at 2 AM, old home movies, giggles and chit chat till 5 AM... good, good times. Relief to my heavy heart.

5. Got lots of good music this week. Thanks, Kal!

6. Wii Sports Resort: I KILL my husband at sword fighting. I am awesome.

7. Snow. There is something peaceful about snow. Even when you're driving through a crazy snowstorm from Provo all the way home, peace can be found in that pretty white stuff that's so soft and calming. I loved the storm this week.

8. Office Night: I love my friends. They are amazing. I love Thursdays. They're too much fun. Yes.

9. THE WINTER GAMES ARE ALMOST HERE!!! I loooo-huh-oooooooove the winter games.

10. Number 10 is for TEN MONTHS of marriage. Twice the amount of time we were engaged. Time flies... Oooooo, soon I get to pull out the top tier of my wedding cake. I loved my wedding cake. LOVED it.

11. Massages: As of Tuesday I will have two massages to my credit from teaching voice. THAT couldn't come at a better time!!!

OK, so...

I do realize that most of you won't understand what I am referring to in numbers 1 and 2. Blogs are wonderful things, and I love them. But there comes a time when a line of privacy must be drawn. Some stories aren't mine to share. And they are definitely not meant to be shared on the World Wide Web.

I will casually mention things here and there, so as you read them, if you wouldn't mind sending a little prayer up our way I won't complain one bit. ;-)

Late Night Posting...

Dear Friends:

Late on this post this week. It's been a long week. I'm husbandless and dealing with lots. Thank heaven for the entertainment provided by The Bachelor!!

Mr. Jake-

Ella is pretty. And nice. And down to earth- unlike all the other women you're trying to date. And hey- aren't you a sucker for that accent? Oh, it's annoying? Oh well...

Ali is still my favorite. She misses you, Jakey-Poo! PAY ATTENTION TO HER!

Gia and her overly Botoxed lips always look ridiculous. But if you go for that kind of thing...

Vienna= STILL NOT CUTE. I'd even say nasty. Yuck. Yuck yuck.

Tenley and her Relief Society voice are starting to rub me the wrong way. She's still a close second to Ali, but maybe she should try somewhere other than The Bachelor to use her practically perfect personality. She already worked for Disney...

Michelle. Michelle, Michelle, Michelle. What WAS that?!?!!? You DO NOT tell a man to kiss you and then rip on his abilities. Or you DO, and he sends you home (in the scenario that you are on reality TV). Too bad you are crazy. Cuz you are really pretty.

Ashleigh- I like you. Who are you again?

Jessie: There's an audition for Phantom of the Opera next week. You should totally go. No one would ever know you're not Sarah Brightman... oh wait, can you sing???

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunday Sun(shine)

1. The Simple Life: Chuck and I have VERY simple lives right now, and we LOVE it. We love that things are so easy and predictable and that we have hours on end to sit around listening to Michael Buble in the background as we play six (cough) games of Settlers in one night. Sure, we could complicate things more, but WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY would we do that???? ;-) Life is good. And happy.

2. Been working out for two weeks now. I feel GREAT! My endurance level isn't nearly what it was before the craziness of the cruise and the holidays, BUT progress is being made. I like feeling healthy. It feels NICE.

3. I finally picked a show for my kiddos at the Scera to do. Seussical the Musical Junior. I'm not familiar enough with the show to say much yet, but I think it'll be a good choice for the kids we have in the class. It'll be a ride, if anything.

4. Hummus and chips from Costco. Yummy yummy. Costco in general just makes me REALLY happy.

5. Tonight I emptied all requests of all kinds on my Facebook. You know how you have friend requests for MONTHS of people you don't know but you don't hit "ignore" because what if, all of a sudden, you DO remember them?? YEAH. So today I ignored all the friend requests, event invites, app invites, blah blah blah. Cleaned out. Feels great.

6. Apples and peanut butter. Yum.

7. Hilly and Tavnir: We love hanging with them. Chuck and Tavnir talk work and animation and illustration and stuff. And Hilly and I... well, we talk about other things.

8. I have a cute little notebook that I like to keep notes in. I love it.

9. The Bachelor is on tomorrow.

10. I get to have a week with fun people. I'm excited. :-)

My husband is obsessed with this video right now. It's highly entertaining. He's played it the last two nights before bed and last night he even busted out his own versions of these hot dance moves. HA!

I love my husband. He makes me laugh.

The Good Ol' Days

These fun photos have caused quite the conversations on Facebook the last few days. So fun. I was bored waiting for my massage lady to come to my house yesterday, so I played with my scanner. Now if only I could find my Kindergarden, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade photos. Sigh...

And yes. I have a massage lady. SWEETEST hookup EVER. I teach her daughter how to sing, and she gives me massages. It's a GOOOOOOOOOOOD life.

Dear Vienna: You Are Still Not EVEN Cute

Mr. Jake the Bachelor:

Had you once had a cat with the nickname "Shameless Hussy," you would have easily been able to identify qualities highlighted by that name in the Bachelorette named Rozalyn. I DID have a cat with that name, and therefore I was not deceived by her gigantic silicone accessories or her big eyes- WHICH may I add are not symmetrical on her face. Her left eye lies significantly higher on her face than does her right. You should have noticed that too, Pilot Man.

Too bad for you.

Elizabeth only tells you to no kiss her so you'll REEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLY want to. Sexual tension is a must. And she's creating it. Awesome. She's pretty too.

Michelle... well, she's still nuts but still pretty. I'd be willing to say PRETTIEST on the show. She's not made up like all the other girls. I like natural pretty. Did I mention that she's still nuts?

You made Christina sad. Then I was sad FOR her. She came into the show with such confidence- what happened there? OH YEAH. She had to PRETEND she was a model among all the REAL models. I'd pee my pants too.

Jacob, do the producer peoples make you keep certain girls around to create the drama? I think so. Perhaps only 3/4 of the girls left are YOUR choice, and the others are picks of the producers? Methinks so.

Ali. Pick her. Oh she is cute and down to earth. Yes. Her.

Sunday Sunshine

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand ...

1. We're back to normal life. Healthy (er) food, working out, cleaning house, teaching lessons, teaching class... It's happy.

2. Settlers of Catan. Chuck and I are about seven years behind this phenomenon (Playmill cast of 2003 will agree), but this week Chuck and I have spent a ridiculous amount of time playing this game. We love it. And hey, it keeps us paying attention to each other and doing something together rather than sitting in the same room, each of us on our own computers, ignoring each other. That is going to be the challenge of the year, I am sure. He loves his blog, I love my blog and other blogs... and Facebook. Yeeeeeeeeeah. Challenge.

3.
Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover". I've browsed through it for months now and Chuck and I are going to start reading it cover to cover tonight. Good stuff.

The Young Victoria: Saw this great flick with my Mom and Grandma on Wednesday. Fantastic film. Stunning costumes and sets. I cried. Beautiful love story. Sigh.

I got my new Shabby Apple dress!!! I adore it. Nevermind that I can't get it off myself... ha ha... but I love the thing!!!!

6. Snuggly winter socks keep my toes warm. They are soft and feel really nice. I love them.

7. My husband is funny. I am so happy that he can make me laugh out loud all the time. There were lots of funny things this week...

8. I am coming along with the Primary song I'm learning to play. I've added four more bars. They do still need some work, but as a whole, the song is coming along well.

9. Lindsey and Tyler are coming to my house tomorrow! Wahoo! They've both been in the Radio City Rockettes show all season- * SO PROUD* and now they're coming to Utah to do some auditions. They'll be loved, I'm sure.

10. January is almost half over. It's not my favorite month so I welcome this fact.

Sometimes...

Sometimes I read SPOILERS... and they irritate me.

Sometimes I feel terrible and guilty for being really happy, especially when it means someone else is hurting very badly.

Sometimes I don't get out of bed till 10:30.

Sometimes I like to dream of the possibilities for my life.

Sometimes I don't like to cook dinner.

And sometimes I don't work out when I should.

For Me, It's Genius.

I accomplished something great in the last two days. For those of you who think I should be a musical genius, those of you who know me well know MUCH better. I am TERRIBLE at reading music and playing the piano is basically pure torture for me. But I WANT to be good at those things. I REALLY want to.

So the last couple days I spent some time WORKING on it. And as of today I can play the whole first four measures of the Primary song for this year (I Know The My Savior Loves Me).

No laughing. It's a big deal for me. I am proud of myself. I want to play the whole song. If I concentrate I can do it. It'll just take time. :-)

First Sunshine of 2010

Happies of my Sabbath. And my week. And my life.

1. A new beginning. I'm usually not a fan of January. It's dreary and we all begin to want spring- but it's still really far off. We're all on a downer because all of a sudden, after two months of excitement, there is none, and yep. JANUARY. But this year I am totally excited for it. I'm excited to get back on the tredmill and into working out with BOB, I'm thrilled to get back into eating well (we haven't since the cruise in NOVEMBER,) and I am just plain ready to start things anew. Tonight I even sat down at the piano and plunked out the new Primary song, "I Know That My Savior Loves Me." I'm TERRIBLE at playing it, but maybe in a few months, after practicing a bit every day, I'll officially be able to say I can play a Primary song. That'd be cool. And it would thrill me.

2. Awesome family. Tonight Chuck and I had a GREAT time at the Robinsons eating and playing games. I LOVE having fun family people that LIKE being with each other! I've had a great abundance of good family activities on all sides lately, and I have loved it. I'm beginning to realize more and more how important family is. I'm a girl who has spent the last ten years floating from place to place, and while a handful of my friends have always been there, most of them have drifted away with time. All of my cousins and aunts and uncles (and Chuck's too!) are always gonna be there. And it's FUN. I like it. I love it.

3. THE BACHELOR STARTS TOMORROW!!! Monday night TRASH TV!!! Yippee!!! Chuck is SUPER excited too!

4. Tonight many people at the family dinner told Chuck he needs to get me a kitty. Thank you. Someday our efforts will pay off!!!

5. The DI makes me happy. I took a huge load of stuff there the other day and it felt WONDERFUL! I feel like getting rid of everything now. :-)

6. Firehouse Car Wash is fantastic. While working as Costco I met a great girl who worked for them, so I thought I'd try it out on Saturday. FABULOUS. Highly recommended. Go there.

7. No makeup days. Every so often a girl needs one of these days. Mine was Saturday.

8. Pretty Sunday music. It helps me focus, it makes my heart happy, and it brings the spirit into my life.

9. My Blog. I started it FOUR years ago. Never really thought I'd keep it up for as long as I have, but I am thankful that it's here. Its become somewhat of a journal for me, and I once was a journal freak. I need to be one again.

10. I still think of Emily. As time goes by and her due date draws closer, I get sad, and angry, and sometimes feel as if all of our hearts have been ripped to shreds. Anytime I get emotional now (regardless of what started it), it ends with tears for Emily. And Biff and Brett. And Kensie. I'm thankful that time will make it all feel better. And even though it all breaks my heart, someday the whole experience will be something that'll bring us some sunshine. I hope anyway.

January: Here we come.

Be happy y'all. Do something to make yourself and the people around you happy. It feels nice.

The Last TEN Years

Reflecting some today. For the first time in my life I VERY CLEARLY remember a decade. Trippy.

2000

- Lived with the best girls ever and made crazy memories at Ricks College. Colonial #304!
- Cast as the lead in the musical at Ricks College- a huge shock and confidence booster in my life as a performer.
- Worked at "The Children's Place" that summer and spent my time riding the "Razor" around the store.
- My mom bought me my first car, "Harriet the Chariot." Cute little Escort. I loved her.

2001

- Graduated from Ricks College- The LAST class of RICKS!
-Cast at the Playmill- had my head photoshopped onto the body of another girl.
- A landslide destroyed the home I grew up in that summer.
- Taught for an after school program. I was the music/dance/drama/art specialist.
- Became a member of the Weber State Institute Choralaires. BEST institute experience ever.
- Got asked out about five times a week that fall/winter. I was overwhelmed.

2002

- My really awesome Grandma, Colleen, passed away in 2002.
- Watched the Olympic torch being run on Harrison in Ogden with Heather and Nicole. Awesome.

- Spent all my spare time hanging with my Choralaire friends.
- Went back to the Playmill for another summer.
- Found out that serving a mission was NOT what I was supposed to do.
- Moved back to Rexburg to perform in Guys and Dolls at BYU-Idaho. Random event of my life. TOTALLY worth it.
- LOVED living at Brookeside with my cousin Yissa for four months.
- Had my first official "boyfriend." (Yes... it took that long...)

2003

- My parents divorced. Honestly, it was about time.
- Auditioned for the MDT program at BYU in January. Had to wait until APRIL to find out my fate. Honestly- worst part of the DECADE for me. I don't do well being in limbo.
- Wrecked my cute little Escort in a head on collision with a semi. I lived. I'm still grateful.
- Best Playmill summer ever. Great way to end that era of my life.
- Fell hopelessly in serious-like with a boy for the first time. In SERIOUS like. (I won't use the other word because I don't think that's really what it was... and he didn't feel it back so I am still bitter. Ha ha ha.)
- Started school at BYU. Lived on University Parkway.
- Got my FIRST text message ever (HA HA HA!) from Alicia's cousin David. Texting. What is IT?!?!?
- Cast as Jane in Jane Eyre at the Hale in Orem. Another gigantic boost in my confidence as a performer. AMAZING.

2004

- Accepted into the MDT program at BYU.
- Lived with Laurel and Hilly in the little yellow house in Provo.
- Learned how many gay boys there are out there...
- Spend the summer dating the former YA president- and even though it didn't end well, it was good times.
- Became a Young Ambassador.
- It's the year everyone got married. Biff, Yissa, Jenna, Kathy, Kecia, Heather... who else? Thank heaven Alicia had gotten married the year before or I might have died. Everyone got married that year. I was DEPRESSED. And then I got over it...
- Got my favorite "real job" ever- Working at the HFAC as an usher.

2005

- Left the country for the first time. (Besides Canada, folks.) Toured with YAs to China and Korea.
- I highlighted my hair for the first time. (REBEL!!!!)
- This was also the year I began playing Belle. I had no idea I'd still be doing it five years later... ;-)

2006

- Experienced many failed dating attempts. Decided dating was lame anyway. That was the year I was told I was "well cooked." Mmmmm.... ??? ??? ???

- My dad got remarried.

- Graduated from BYU.
- Worked for a chiropractor and quit immediately when I got offered a job in Hong Kong. I didn't really like doing ultrasounds on the backs of hairy men...
- Moved to the other side of the world to work for Hong Kong Disneyland.

2007

- Returned from Hong Kong.
- Bought a car for myself! Sophie!
- Made a cross country trip with my mom and grandma. Saw Nauvoo for the first time.
- Moved to Orlando, Florida
-Met a cute boy named Chuck.
- Welcomed my first niece, McKensie Ann Stout.

2008

- Dated Chuck. For the whole year.
- Had a really awesome bedroom in Orlando. I loved it.
- Got engaged in November.
- Played Belle.
- Played Belle some more.
- Played Belle more. And more.
- Still played Belle...

2009

- I got married. Yep.
- My husband bought us a house!
- Worked random jobs here and there and everywhere and played wife.
