Desperate Subtlety

Christmas Caroling at HK Disneyland (My OTHER "Job")

This was a press event that happened a few weeks ago. It was the big Christmas kick off thing. Don't ask what I am wearing. I dunno either. :-) Hee hee. But there I am as a blonde!

Amy the "Day-After-Thanksgiving Freak"... and Other STUFF of Lately.

The day after Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. It's the day I LOVE crowds, I LOVE the cold, I LOVE spending money and shopping, AND I just love the whole ATMOSPHERE!!! YES YES! Well, it's not even close to the same here in Hong Kong, but I had a GREAT day shopping for a decorating my apartment for the holidays! I have to say, though, that putting up the Christmas tree with the AC on is a little oxy-moron-ish. :-) Anyway, I found a cute little 4 foot tree for under $10, and I got lots of lights and tinsel and EVERYTHING. It was lots and lots of fun. Oh yeah- and the snowflakes... I needed snowflakes.

This was my splurge for the season. It's a little Hong Kong Disneyland Christmas tree. A keepsake. I figure I needed something to bring home from my Christmas in Hong Kong. :-) And I got 40% off. Hee hee. I love employee discounts! :-)

My tree looks like it's wearing a coat.

So lately I have been coming out of my shell at work. It happened all of a sudden one day last week. It's weird how I do that. Hmmm. Anyway, so now I am my normal crazy and entertaining self with all the cast members at work. I am very good at making the locals and Phillipinos laugh. :-) Here is my "Soccer Mom" wig with the way I restyled it. I had the whole cast and tech crew and costumers cracking up. I like it. Hee hee.

Dang, I wish this pic was lighter. If anyone has editing capabilities would you lighten it for me and send it? Hee hee. OK, this is RANDOM. But this was part of my Thanksgiving. I had dinner with a family from the Branch, and they had this massage chair. HAPPY AMY. I look like I am getting some kind of medical procedure done...

PEOPLE EVERYWHERE!!!!!! EVERYWHERE!!!! This is Mong Kok... the best part about this day is that I was out wandering around and all of a sudden I recognized where I was- from a pic I have of YA tour. (Since I've been here I have wondered where all we were on that tour... I have NO IDEA!) Anyway, it made me happy. And nostalgic. And I missed the YA's. Sigh.

This is how bus drivers drive in Hong Kong. :-) I am on the upper deck of my bus, and OH- YES, that is the bus in front of us. ADVENTURE! :-)

This is for Raymond or Chad Little... WHAT IN THE WORLD DO ALL THESE PEOPLE DO UNDER THE HSBC BUILDING IN CENTRAL EVERY SUNDAY?!?!?!? There are thousands of them just hanging out there when I ride the bus home from church... (I wish I had a better pic... the numbers of people are astounding- considering they seem to be doing absolutely nothing...)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF MY PEOPLE.

Today I am thankful for many, MANY things... but most of all- for all of you who read my blog. Hee hee. Details on my Thanksgiving in Hong Kong will come soon. :-) I love you all lots and lots.

THREE MONTHS!

Today I have officially been in Hong Kong for
THREE MONTHS!
Wahoo! Let's hear it for FOUR more!
Uh, folks, if you're coming to see me in Hong Kong, time is OFFICIALLY running out. MAKE THOSE AIRLINE RESERVATIONS AND GET OVER HERE! :-)

In a few weeks my contract is half way through (December 10th I believe)- THAT seems impossible. Crazy, CRAZY how fast time goes.

Just my life...

So apparently nothing too eventful has been going on in my life so far this month... though I have enjoyed coming up with Ralphie posts. 42 days till Christmas. I'm just sayin'...

Life here is great. I LOVE, LOVE my job. If it were at home, it would be PERFECT and I would stay with it indefinitely. But, even though I LOVE this experience and I wouldn't change it for anything, I wouldn't want to stay here on my own for more than the few more months I will be here. I have learned that being close to family is really important to me. I need those people. I also need my friends and people who know and understand me. I have loved meeting new people and everything- it's been great, but there's something comforting about people at home. People who have known you for years and years, and people who you know that you can see by just jumping in your car and meeting at the local Taco Bell for lunch. On that topic...

ASSIGNMENT: I miss the following foods. You must eat them for me.

*Bajio Grill chips and salsa and burritos (with the green sauce....waaaa)
*Taco Bell Seven Layer Burritos and Gorditas.. or ANYTHING Taco Bell. I MISS IT!
* Olive Garden anything
* BYU Creamery ice cream (Peanut Butter Cup and Raspberry and Cream Cheese flavors particularly) - Andrea Williams I put you in charge of THIS one.. since you're the freak who got me hooked on Creamery ice cream in the first place! :-)
* Costa Azul (in Provo... Costa Vida other places...) grilled chicken salad
* Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich and FROSTIES... do I enjoy torturing myself like this?
* Applebee's Appetizer Sampler
* Wingers STICKY FINGERS (WAAAA!)
* Wingers Asphalt Pie
* Macaroni Grill Pasta Milano... one of my ABSOLUTE favs!!
* Good fajitas somewhere... :-)
* A J-Dawg (Provo)
* Smart Cookie (Provo)

It is a consensus among the American cast members here that the most missed fast food place is Taco Bell. I tell ya, in March when we all hit that US airport with a layover, TACO BELL Express here we come! :-) YEAH!

Anyway, like I said, all is happy. Sorry for the lack of interesting pictures. Soon I will have some sort of Thanksgiving post, and CHRISTMAS decorations will be posted as well! IN A LITTLE OVER A WEEK I CAN DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS! I love Christmas. And Christmas music. And presents under my Christmas tree from people of far away lands...

Oh yeah, speaking of Christmas... this week I was involved in a "Special Event" at Disneyland. I did a press event where I sang a couple Christmas songs in a quartet. It was fun and there were little Chinese press people with cameras in my face for like ten minutes. It was entertaining. I need to locate some pics of that... my outfit was a joke. HA HA. :-) I looked like a really trendy Christmas soccer mom...

So anyway... that's Hong Kong. Just my life. :-)
