Updating... a little later than expected....

OK- so I don't consider myself a computer nerd, but WOW. I have been without my own internet access for more than a week now and I have been going CRAZY!!! :-) As of today I am proud to say that I at least have a land phone line that I can dial-up with... hee hee. I feel as if I'm back in 1995 when we first got our computer with AOL and we would listen to it dial up and all of a sudden, we were connected to the WORLD!!! :-) Ha. ANYWAY-

So since I got back from the NYC I have moved, got these LOVELY plastic hooks put on two of my teeth (explaination coming...) and let's see... what else... Oh yeah, and rehearsed lots for my upcoming show. It opens on June 10 and I am still feeling a little behind because of my long trip... but it was worth it. :-)

OK- teeth explaination. I haven't mentioned that whole thing on here. Sometimes, Amy here gets a little vain. So for a long time I have wanted to get a few of my teeth straightened. There was only one on top that bothered me, and a few on the bottom. So I took a trip to the dentist and began this "invisible" teeth straightening treatment called "Invisalign." It's great and I recommend it to anyone. :-) ANYWAY- so my teeth are almost "done"- after only FOUR MONTHS might I add- but there are a few things that still need fixing. Sooooo the other day I got these lovely plastic hooks put on two of my upper teeth. I hook elastics to these hooks and wear them all the time. I feel like I am 12 again. Hee hee. But actually, it's not even bad. They are, for the most part, really clear and hardly noticable. Only tonight we had cast pictures taken for my show, and I am rather dredding what I will look like with those lovely things on my smile.... oh well. :-) Such is vanity...

I don't have any pictures to post. I am too lazy to get my camera out and attempt even putting them on this blog through a dial-up connection. It might take YEARS...

The Rest of NYC- and HOME!!!!

Hi from UTAH!!! I am back at home... well, I don't have a home right now, but I am back in Utah. I have never- well- maybe when I came home from 30 day YA tour- appreciated the SMELLS, the SIGHTS, and THE PEOPLE of UTAH. Seriously, I LOVED NYC- and if I had a job, I would totally move there. BUT really- I love home. Utah is beautiful. The hustle and bustle of the city was exciting for a few days, but I tell ya- I was BEYOND ready to come home. I got off the plane at 6:30, and when straight to my Crazy For You rehearsal... it's good to be back there too!!! I have the entire first act to learn- but I think it'll be fine. I have lots of great people to help me!!!

Well, today is Sunday. We went to church in the same building as the Manhattan Temple, and that was amazing- and other than that, life around New York City moves just as much as any other day of the week. My mom, Biff, Brett, and I spent the afternoon and early evening walking around Central Park. It was great fun!

On Friday we went to the "Top of the Rock." Coolest elevator ride I've taken in my life.... and the top was pretty great too!!!

OK- this monkey was the most entertaining thing I have EVER seen at a zoo. That stick of his was his best friend- as he would play around with the other monkeys he would hit them on the head with his stick and he would even "pole vault" around the monkey habitat with it. Hi everyone!!! Well, I am sitting in the business center of our hotel here in New York City... and it's been a great week!!!! I still have five days left!!! WAHOO! Anyway- things have gone VERY well and I have had meetings and auditions with Disney people and folks from WB television. So we'll see where it all goes. So far I have been able to see "Wicked," and "Hairspray," and this week I am seeing "Light in the Piazza," and "The Drowsy Chaparone." (Sutton Foster's new show... YAHOO!!!) Biff and Brett got here tonight! So the next week is bound to be fun!

The past three days I went up to the Boston area with my mom where we visited with a friend of hers who she hasn't seen in TWENTY-EIGHT years!!!! INSANE. They were cute together and it was a busy few days. I am pooped. I believe in the divinity of Sunday. :-) Anyway- enjoy the pics!!!

Hey everyone! I am now a graduate of Brigham Young University. I now hold a BFA in Music/Dance/Theatre. I really want to write more, but I need to get to bed. I leave for NYC tomorrow, and as luck would have it, I have been really sick all week long. I don't have much of a voice. Our show is Monday. I am sort of in a panic. Oh the changes... (Be warned... this is a sentimental post...)

Wow. So this past week has been- and the week to come will be- full of changes in my life!!!

Really, when it rains it pours- and with the way this weekend has been I really have just stepped back and gone "WHOA." The fact that I am graduating on Friday is really starting to hit me, my dad got remarried yesterday, AND we located my house that fell down the hill. There is a loooong backstory to the last situation, but its kewl, and for those of you who knew what my little house used to look like, you will be amazed at how great it looks now!

Let's start with the story of my house: As most of you know, I grew up in Layton. I lived in a little white house with pretty red brick. Well, five years ago this summer, my little house "fell down the hill" of Heather Drive when a landslide occured. The landslide destroyed three houses, and ours was removed from it's foundation after we evacuated, and put on the front lawn. Soon after that, a big truck came and took my little house away and put it in a field by Grocery Outlet. It stayed there for awhile, and was then moved to another field up by Hill Air Force Case. More than a year ago, our little house disappeared from the field. We've had no clue where it was- until two days ago. Kate, my new step-sister, was on a tour with her high school interior design class. Next to the house they visited, she was told, was a housee that had been involved in the landslide a few years ago. IT IS MY HOUSE. On Friday, before a family dinner, I went to see my little house. I had this weird pit in my stomach as I drove closer and closer to it, and when I finally saw it, my heart was really happy. The outside of the house looks FANTASTIC. It is now a grey-ish tan colored stucco with stone where the brick used to be. Can I just say that it is really freaky to l0ok at the house you lived in for 15+ years- know it is your house- but not really recognize anything?

Then I went inside. Everything- for the most part- has been gutted. As I stood in the bedroom I grew up in, everything finally hit me. I was gone when the landslide happened, and I hadn't lived at home for two years- but as I stood in my little bedroom I finally- after five years- grieved. The thing that set me off was that among everything being gutted around me, the wallpaper from my bedroom had recently been torn off the walls and was in a pile on the floor. My pink wallpaper, and my flowered wallpaper, was scattered in shreds all over my room. It really made me sad- sad for the fact that that's MY home, and after five years I was finally in there again- only nothing was the same. Just lots of hilarious memories that now seemed weirdly ghostlike. (Yeah- I am in a dramatic writing mood tonight- can ya tell??) It was SOOOOO bizarre to look out my bedroom windows and not see what belongs there... the brown house from across the street on Heather Drive. I have never had such a weird, surreal, feeling in my life. So I sat in the middle of my room among the white dust and construction, and for the first time that I can remember- I cried that my house "fell down the hill." There's this old Disney cartoon called "The Little House." It is the story of my little house. Ü The last time I saw my house it looked something like this:


Now, after five years of being a sad little house, my little house that used to be white with red brick, now looks like.... (Drumroll please...)

If you look at the carport you can see that it's still buckled a bit- thanks to the trauma the poor house has been through!!! BUT, I am so happy that the little house I grew up in is finally in a neighborhood again. The inside of it is going to look great- they are keeping our bathroom shower tiles- which is nice. SOMETHING from my old home will still be recognizable!

Anyway, wow- I have tons more to write about. BUT I have a final tomorrow- I should be studying- not blogging! :-) More later!

So tonight Lisa, Hillary, and I got together in Salt Lake and ate at the Macaroni Grill. We haven't seen each other for a long time, so it was awesome to catch up, share stories, and just walk around Salt Lake... for a few minutes! Hill drove down from Logan, and Lisa and I came up from Provo. LICIA, we missed you, but thought of you! :-) Anyway, for those of you who don't know, Lisa and Hillary were my roomies back in the days of Ricks College. Fun, fun times! I love you girls so much!

I am almost in my last week of school EVER! Tuesday is the last day of classes, and after that, finals come. Things should be pretty easy from here on out. Weird. I am graduating. :-) Pretty exciting!

I had my first "Crazy For You" rehearsal today. I will be perfoming in the MWF cast and will do matinees on Saturdays at 12:30. So yeah... the link to the theatre site is: http://www.halecentretheatre.org/new/ Check it out. :-)

My last day at work is on Tuesday. I have ADORED my job, and especially love the people I work with. I will miss Cy, Jamen, Andrew, Cynthia, and everyone else soooo much! I have really been lucky with my job the past two years. It was such a great one to have while I was in school. (Sigh...)

Anyway, so there's life for today! Happy Easter to all!

2 weeks and counting!

I keep taking my camera places to take pictures, and for some reason my camera is killing batteries in like 10 minutes. Makes me sad!!! :-) Anyway... I GRADUATE IN TWO WEEKS. That's really hard to believe! After two years of Ricks, trying out Weber, going BACK to Ricks (BYU-Idaho), and FINALLY coming down here to the "Y", I am done with college. Which also means that I get to go to New York in a little over two weeks. I am a happy girl! I am staying there until May 12, and then I will coming back here to do Crazy For You at the Hale. After that, no clue. :-) Taking things a day at a time!!! :-)

So the quote of the week in Amy's dating life is, "Amy, you're what my mom would call "well cooked." Does anyone understand why I am tired of dating?? :-) Ha ha.

Discoveries about blogging :)

Hi again all. Soooooooooo today I found out that I had a block on to moderate my comments! Thanks to Jason, and my cousin Brooke, I have discovered things about this blog that I had NO clue about! I am proud to say that I had comments awaiting my approval. Hee hee. (One of them was one from my cousin who told me all about ways to set up to see how many people look at my site... etc etc etc.) AWESOME! Thanks, Brooke, for the info! Anyway, things are good- I am working on a research paper about one of my ancestors right now for my church history class. Pretty interesting. :-)

SPRING, Alicia, and Crazy For You

Well, it was a great weekend! I was running around a lot, but I was thankful for all the things I got to do! Alicia came into town this week, and I was so excited to go up to Ogden and see her on Saturday afternoon before she left. I just watched while she and Chris packed, and we talked, and ate, and she went back to West Virginia, but hey- it was SOOOOOO good to see her and we laughed because as she packed we were comparing clothes... she ended up changing into something almost exactly like I was wearing and we took some pics... but OF COURSE my camera pooped out and wouldn't work, so she's gonna post those pictures. :-) I love Licia!

Graduation is getting closer. I didn't realize it till today, but there are only like two weeks left of classes. Yikes. I have lots to do in those two weeks. :-) Hee hee. I am taking suggestions on what to do with myself after I graduate... anyone? And I WILL NOT say yes to anyone who says, "Marry me" as a comment on my blog. I have had too many guys asking me out over TEXT MESSAGING lately- and I say NO to technological advances! :-) Ha ha.

I just got cast as Polly in Crazy For You at the Hale Center Theatre in West Valley. It runs in June and July. I'll post more info eventually. It is an amazing theatre and I am really excited to work there. The stage is incredible. So we'll see how that goes!

The Countdown Begins!

One month from today I graduate. Scary. A month from today I am out of college. It means I get a real job doing... something. Ha ha.

Anyway, this post is short but it is to provide info for anyone who might want to come to my senior "New York Showcase" this weekend on campus. The show is 40 minutes long, and I, along with a group of 14 other seniors, will just be showcasing ourselves (that sounds funny, eh?one at a time. I am doing a scene from "Thoroughly Modern Millie" along with the song "Jimmy" from the same show. The show is on

THURSDAY MARCH 30 and FRIDAY MARCH 31 at both 7 and 9 PM.

If you are on BYU campus, you can buy your tickets in advance for $5 at the HFAC ticket office, OR you can purchase them the day of the show in the ticket office for $6.

The show will be in the NELKE THEATRE in the Harris Fine Arts Center. If any of you need directions or whatever- email or call me. :-)

Life Update :-)

Well, I suppose it's time for an update. The last month has been pretty crazy-I have worked a lot- way too much actually, and it is tending to cut into my social life. BUT I have friends at work- so that is always nice and helps out. :-) I feel like I am playing when I am at work. Anyway, I am down to about a month and a half till graduation, and I really still don't know what I am doing. My thoughts are to get a full time job here in Utah, and then if there are auditions I want to go to or whatever I can just fly out to NYC and do them. I just don't see the logic in moving to New York and working at the Olive Garden while I starve trying to get onto Broadway. My family is here- I have no one, and no job in New York. So unless, by some weird divine intervention, I get a great performing job somewhere other than Utah, I will be staying here. But hey, I will be able to save $$$, but myself a nice car, and TRAVEL because I am single and I will only be supporting myself. And if I brilliant performing opportunity comes my way, I will take it. But for now, I am going to see what is left for me here at home. (NOT Layton PS... I will probably stay in SL or Provo... what the heck would I do with myself in LAYTON??)



Let's see... what else? Boys have been drama. I swear, I can't get the ones I WANT to ask me out TO ask me out, and I can't get other ones to STOP asking me out! Nah- things are ok in that department, but I have so little time to date and socialize that when I DO have time, I don't know who to give it to. Sounds crazy and weird that I am complaining about being asked out so much... but BLEH!!!! It is overwhelming and I HATE dating. That is all. There are two boys with some serious potential right now... and some others that I don't know if there's potential because I have no time to do anything with them.... such is my life as an almost graudated 24 year old. :-)

Old Times in the "Iceburg"

Last weekend I went up to Rexburg for the first time in about a year. It was so crazy to see all the new things going up!!! They have more places to eat than just Frontier Pies!!! WAHOO! I mean, really, now they have a movie theatre and lots of good places to hang and eat.... WHO NEEDS I.F.!!! But I guess that it what I loved about that place... it was so small that going to IDAHO FALLS was a trip. I can't tell you how many times the girls and I piled in the car (The Maz Coaster) for Friday night trips to IF. Oh the memories. :-) The temple is also coming together. Some of the walls are up and it's going to be gorgeous to have that bulding in that little city! It's cool. Anyway- most of these pics are for Lic and my other Ricks roomies to see the insanity that has gone on since we left... across the street from Colonial #304 now lies a Subway, some Pinapple Grill, and a little grocery store.... SHEESH! Also, in case you have missed Raspberry Tart ice cream with nerds mixed into it... or better known as "BRAINS," I want to to know that I stopped in at Mill Hollow and had some... too bad I had no Colonial House freezer to come home and save them in!! :-) Hee hee. (PS: That has got to be one of the most unflattering pictures of me, but hey, I am eating BRAINS! I had to put it on the BLOG!)

Well, Showcase ended tonight. It turned out much better than expected, so I am very happy about that!!! Here are some pictures of the two numbers I did. Yes, I am supposed to look stupid in the red/navy blue getup, and the little black dress was for my "Thoroughly Modern Millie" number. I sang "Nice" from Lucky Stiff with Ben Tichy- a junior in the program, and some of you will recognize Cy Wood with me in the above picture. Cy and I work together in the HFAC and laugh lots and enjoy ourselves. (He's also an MDT major and was in Showcase... hence the picture together.) :-) Anyways- so there ya go!!!

So I haven't posted any of my pictures from my trip to China yet. I have over 700 of them so when I get them all filtered down I'll put them up. I was in Hong Kong, China, and Korea for a month last spring, and IT WAS AMAZING!!! This picture (and don't ask me WHY I am pulling this face- it was taken by the professional photographer we had on tour with us.... whatever Amy) is from a day we spent with university students in Tianjin. I ate sweet and sour chicken (????) in their cafeteria that day and spent the night hung over the toilet in our ikky dorm room barfing it up. Sorry for the gross details. :-)

Does anyone even read this anymore? Or is this just my strange version of entertaining myself? Wait, Lic, I know you read it, and you were my inspiration to become a "blogger." So yay. I need something interesting to happen so I can take pictures and put them on here. Hmmmmm. School is great- this semester is flying by- we're already in week 5!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT!!! My time here at BYU really is coming to an end! Anyway, MDT Showcase is Thursday and Friday, which will be great. After that I may have time for a social life... :-) I'll post Showcase pics this weekend... Be happy.
