An Insider's Guide to Amy

I have been tagged, by my VERY long time friend Heather Gibby-Ward, to post 8 things that most people don't know about me... Hee.

*I am SHY.
Many people have NO COMPREHENSION of how this is possible for a girl who makes a living parading herself on a stage with thousands of people watching daily. BUT, I am RIDICULOUSLY shy. It drives me crazy and I have no explaination for it, but luckily, once I get PAST the whole shyness thing, I don't shut up and no one can remember what it was like when I WAS shy. Ha ha.

My shyness manifests itself in different ways: In a large group of people I am EXTREMELY shy and just sit back and observe- I do MUCH better one on one and in small groups. Often times my shyness is mistaken for snobbiness or just plain apathy- but I am here to tell you all that that's not the case. It's just me being dumb and shy. We're working on that...


*Haircookingemailsbloggingreadingfacebookcleaningphonetalkingsingingwriting I do nearly everything in an ADD type fashion. I can't do a project in one sitting. In the morning- especially on days I have off- I lay out my game plan and go about it by doing a little of each thing at a time. I am great at cooking, doing my hair, writing emails, cleaning my room, and talking on the phone all at the same time. Otherwise I get bored and daydream. Ha. Right now, at 6 PM, I am multitasking making dinner (a lovely rice bowl filled with teryaki stir fry), doing my hair, and typing this blog. Somehow I manage to get it all done...


*WHERE ARE YOU!?!??!
I am addicted to keeping in touch with people. I HATE losing touch with friends from past years. I am the "go to" girl when people want to know what "so-and-so" is doing now. I am a pocket full of useless information on people. :-) By the way, what ever happened to those random twin roommates I had? Hee.


*"AN ENCOUNTER WITH STRING BEANS!"
I am an avid journal keeper. I have kept a journal since I was 12 years old. The quote heading this topic of discussion was taken from a twelve-year-old James Garrett... who twelve-year-old Amy had a crush on. It was Music Man rehearsal, 1993. I guess he was flirting with me... I have 14 years full of similar stupid quotes and life lessons of Amy.


*I love cute underwear. Nuff said.

*DID YOU KNOW...My great-great-great grandmother was disowned at fifteen!
I am a family history geek. I am fascinated with family history and personal histories and whatever else. I LOVE biographies.


*Sometimes I wish I was a 1940's Pin-up Girl.
HA! YES! You read correctly. SOOOOOOOOOO random and SOOOOOOOOOOOO true. I wanna be a WWII pinup girl. Sometimes I think I was made for that era. Sigh.


*NERD ALERT!
I LOVE THE NEWS. I am obsessed with the news. Every day I go to ksl.com at least five times to see the updates on what's going on in my home town. When big stories break like the Utah mine collapse or a BYU student goes missing, I often know the updates before anyone at home does.

A Room! And People I Love! And Other Things, Too!

I FINALLY GOT A ROOM!!!! On Friday I was able to move into my room at this lovely house in Florida. In the ward the house is known as "The Chateau," and it's lots of fun. I am a very happy girl with my new bed, my cute brown chair (that I am currently sitting in at 1 AM), and I am MOST happy that I no longer have SUITCASES packed! Life is WONDERFUL. :-)


Happy honeymooners Terrah and Tyler Harper came and saw me in the show. So much fun... I haven't seen Terrah since, gosh, I dunno when.. several months before I went to Hong Kong I think.

SPEAKING of Hong Kong... my little experience there began more than a year ago now. That honestly seems impossible and I think of the time I spent there every single day. I love and miss you all!

The Life of a Professional Princess

All is well here in Florida. After five days of working, learning the whole show, and FINALLY getting the quirks I've dealt with (in regards to the Disney company) worked out, I am finally getting settled here in Florida. THANK HEAVEN. I am still in desperate need of friends and people to hang out with, date, etc., BUT I am thankful that right now I have a great job, a house to live in (just not a ROOM yet... ha ha), and my car.

I started rehearsals on Tuesday. By Wednesday I had the entire show learned, and it's to the point now that the dance captains don't know what to do with me because I am not scheduled to open in the show until Wednesday. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I end up working about four hours a day, but still get paid for eight. I love my life. :-) Hee. The show is cute, and nothing beats the moment, during the finale, when the curtain swishes open and there I stand in my gold dress. The entire audience "AWWWWWWS" and erupts in applause. Hee. So much fun. I just have to laugh that this is my JOB. Granted, SHOW AFTER SHOW of the same things DOES get tedious... but gosh- I love that I get paid to do this. Pretty dang cool. I LOVE MY JOB. The people are great and it's just a fun experience. Good times, good times.

For a long time I was homeless. THAT WAS NOT COOL. I stayed in hotels for the first few nights I was here, but not wanting to waste my relocation money on hotels, I decided to crash on the couch of my old BYU-Idaho friend, Amy. After a week of my crashing there, one of the roomies decided that she was going to move to Utah in two weeks... so as fate (and blessings) would have it, there was now space for me in the house. Again, THANK HEAVEN. Being homeless and living out of a suitcase is NOOOOOOOOT fun. Nope.

I used to do this when I was in Hong Kong, but I find it appropriate to make known my observations on this area of the USA that we call Orlando:

* People honk their horns. They don't do that in Utah- except in extreme situations.
* Downtown Orlando is scary. Was that a gang sign that guy just flashed at me? Hmm.
* U turns are the most made traffic move here. I can't tell you how many times a day I use this city's convenient U turn system. :-)
* Always keep at least 75 cents with you in the car... you never know when you're going to accidentally run into a toll road. Hee.
*I feel like driving around with a Utah license plate magnifies the mistakes I make as a driver here. I am still learning how to drive in this place, and wow- when I do something stupid, I feel REALLY stupid because my license plate is screaming "I'm a BYU girl from Utah!"
* There is a great sandwich plate in Downtown Disney. Basically I am obsessed... Earl of Sandwich. Yum.
* It's HOT. I have never sweat so much in my life. Hong Kong was TERRIBLE humidity wise- but I don't think it ever got as HOT there as it does here. I am not kidding- I lost like five pounds this week just from sweating so much. I am sweating so much that it's like the equivalent of going to the gym 5+ times per day!
* I hear at least five different languages per day. People from all over the world come here! Fun!

So that's the update. Someday I will get pictures up so y'all can SEE what I am doing here. So fun... good times. :-) Anyway, love to everyone. Life is beautiful.
