Sunday Sunshine

I'm testing out the Blogger app I just added to my phone. We'll see how this post looks . . .

Sleep: We've all been getting more sleep around here, so that one thing alone makes this momma extremely happy. I do have to say, though, that it's amazing how six hours of sleep seems like a full night's rest now. I'm a girl who has always needed her eight hours - but now, six is a drrrrream!

This little fella has no problems in the sleep department . . .

Oh yeah- and that plan I had to look all cute and have makeup on and my hair done when I gave birth? Yeah- water broke at 2 AM - goodbye dream, fly out the window! ;-)

And for those of you who want a long story - here it is:

We have a son. Davis was born on Saturday, March 10, at 11:49 a.m. In so many ways this whole thing is still surreal to me - and the fact that all of this has happened seems somehow impossible. I have a baby. He is terribly sweet and good. He lives with us. And Chuck and I are expected to raise him to be a good and wonderful human being. The task seems so heavy.

I look at him every day and it breaks my heart at how fast he will grow. Perhaps that's a silly little thing to think about when I am in the middle of all of this crazy newborn stuff, but my goodness. I can't help but look at his perfect little being and be devastated at the fact that in the blink of an eye, my little son will be grown. What a wonderful part of life I am living.

So before I backtrack on the last several months of stories, I need to write about the whole experience of Davis' birth. Weird. I've had a baby.

I'll begin a week prior to our arrival at the hospital. My doctor appointments were always on Fridays, and on Friday, March 2, I had my 37 week checkup. My doctor "checked" me at that appointment, and I was dilated to a 2 and about 50% effaced. Anyway, after that appointment I just felt GROSS. I came home exhausted and having contractions here and there, and just feeling yucky in general. Not fun. I took a bath, though, and felt a bit better.

Sooooo the following Friday, the 9th, arrives, and again, Dr. Moreland "checks" me. This time I was dilated to a 1.5 (Digression? LAME!), and 80% effaced. At least there was some sort of progression. After my appointment I headed home and started feeling not-so-hot again. My mom came to my house after she'd gotten off work - we were working on getting her a resume and application done for a job with Education Week at BYU. Anyway- when she left around 9 or so, I told her that I felt crappy and wanted to take a bath. Baths always made this prego lady feel better. :-) Chuck had gotten me some "sleep" bath salts, bubbles, scrubs, etc. for Valentines Day, and I tell you, that's how I made it through my last month of pregnancy.

So I soaked in the bathtub. Felt good, but my back was starting to ache. That had never happened before... and incidently I had read in a pamphlet, earlier that day, that real labor may be felt in the back whereas "fake" labor is just in your tummy. So ya know, that made me wonder, but he still wasn't due for two weeks and heaven knows I would not go to that hospital just to be sent home. But blah, I did not feel good.

Chuck and I began to settle down for bed, but I could not get comfortable. I began trying to time contractions with an app on my iPhone, but there was really no consistency to any of them. They weren't getting closer together or longer or stronger really, but ugh- they did not feel good.  For me, labor was like REALLY bad gas pains. REALLY bad gas pains. Yep. Not really what I expected, and I suppose there was a bit of menstrual cramps feeling in there too- but honestly, to me, it just felt like awful gas pains. YUCK. Anyway, Chuck knew I wasn't feeling well and was getting frustrated over the fact that I couldn't give him definite "what I am experiencing is THIS and THIS is what it means" answers. I really didn't KNOW for sure what I was experiencing, and Chuck and I never do well late at night - we're cranky and short with one another - so I was just annoyed over the whole thing and he was frustrated. Sigh.

Around midnight I was extremely uncomfortable and was just praying/hoping that somehow I would "know" if this was "it" or if I should just try and work through it because this was how the next two weeks of my life were gonna be. Ugh. Chuck ended up giving me a blessing, which was great, and not too long after that, around 2 a.m., I was lying in bed dealing with/timing contractions, and all of a sudden I heard a "pop" noise - like someone just threw a water balloon on the cement- and out came the gush. HOORAY! I didn't have to question it anymore! My water broke. I was SO happy that I wouldn't be questioning myself anymore and that we could go to the hospital without having to worry about being sent home.

Our baby was officially on his way.

I jumped out of bed and the water rushed down my leg, I cleaned myself up in the bathroom and told Chuck, "We can go now! My water broke." He jumped out of bed, not groggy at all, and started to gather up things that needed to be loaded into the car. I had a bag packed for me and the baby, only toiletries needed to be added, and Chuck gathered up a few things for him to get by for the next day or so.

The bummer things about Davis coming early? (The only bummer things... I am THRILLED that he came at 38 weeks!!!) The following week I was scheduled to have my eyebrows waxed, my hair dyed, and my nails done. I was determined to look and feel pretty when I had this baby. Ha. It was 2 a.m. when my water broke and I was in my jammies and SO not going to do my hair or makeup like I'd planned in my "ideal situation" head. All I wanted was to get into the car and get to the anesthesiologist NOW. :-)

We got into the car and headed to the hospital via Redwood Road. It's about a half hour trip, and by then I could tell that my contractions were getting stronger and close together. When we got to the stop light at Bangerter and Redwood, the light took FOREVER to change. Chuck almost ran the light when it finally decided to turn green. Thhhhhank you, light.

I'd called the hospital from home to tell them we were on our way. When we got there, we pulled into a parking space for "mothers in active labor," and headed up to the second floor of Jordan Valley Hospital's "Women's Center."  We'd taken a tour of the facility just one week before - glad we did that - it was nice to be somewhat familiar with what was going on.

When we got into the labor and delivery room, they gave me a gown, had me pee in a cup, and I think they swabbed me to get what they needed to "make sure that my water broke."  Uh, duh. I know my water broke. You have to send things to a LAB to confirm it??! How long will that take? And when can I get drugs???  Obviously I am not a mommy who wants to experience "natural" birth and yada yada. Heavenly Father made smart people who invented drugs for a reason- and I am grateful.

Chuck and I patiently waited for the lab results to come back - and I have to admit that I didn't deal with contractions too well as we had to answer questions and fill out paperwork and everything. They just hurt, a lot - and at one point I really thought I was going to throw up all over myself. Chuck grabbed a garbage can, and soon after that they came in and told me that we were good to go- it WAS my water that broke. (DUH.) Apparently the lab had originally messed up and told the nurses that it was NOT my water, but they later realized that they'd looked at the wrong person's results. Awesome. Ha.

I was in the clear for my epidural! Hooray! First, though, they had to get an IV into me. My arms do not handle IVs so well. When I had nose surgery back in 2001 it took the nurses ELEVEN tries before they finally got the IV into me - so I figured it was going to be difficult. After three tries in my left arm they finally decided to get the anesthesiologist to come in and do the IV and the epi at the same time.

Enter Ron the Anesthesiologist : He is a good man.

He got the IV in first thing, and then it was epidural time. I'd wondered if I would be nervous about the epidural, but I wasn't at all. I didn't feel much, and the only weird thing I experienced was a could of crazy electric shock buzzes through the right side of my body. That was trippy and unexpected, so I jumped because I was startled by it. Chuck sat in front of me holding my hands through the whole thing. After it was done I felt instant relief, and they showed me a button on the side of my bed that I could push for more medicine if needs be. It felt glorious! I could still wiggle my toes, but everything else was pretty numb.

By about six a.m., I was all drugged up and dilated to a nine. Everything had gone pretty fast, and the nurses had previously assumed that I would not deliver until late afternoon/evening the next day. BUT since things did go quicker than they'd originally thought, and the doctor on call wasn't around yet, they decided to just let me get some sleep while he "moved down" on his own. I slept for a couple of hours - Chuck tried, but the room was cold and the chair he was sleeping on was pretty bad, so I don't think his experience was the greatest.  :-/

It was a beautiful spring day. The sun was shining into the room and it was just lovely. A good day to come into the world. :-) Around 9:30 or so the nurse wanted me to do some practice pushing. She asked Chuck if he'd help and hold my left leg . . . I knew he'd be hesitant, but he did a GREAT job. Originally he'd wanted to stand up by my head through the whole thing and not look and not SEE anything happening. I'd been a bit nervous about how he'd handle it all, but I was thrilled with how he watched and helped and really seemed to enjoy it all. As I was pushing and the nurse mentioned being able to see his head, I asked what color his hair was - she said, "I won't say... dad can look!" And he did. Sooooo we practiced pushed and moved him down a little more for about an hour. In between contractions we had a good conversation with our nurse about lots of different things - working at Disney, creativity, how we met, etc. - she was great. It was just so chill - we loved it.

Speaking of "chill" - the only weird thing I had going on was the shivers. I shook a lot before, during, and after the birth. I was really cold and had the shakes quite a bit of the time. But hey- it's all good. :-)

The doctor on call - Dr. John Nichols, came in to check on me probably around 10:30 or so. He was in his jeans and a t-shirt and decided that I was ready to go, so he headed off to get ready and the nurses prepped everything. My doctor was out of town, but Dr. Nichols was great and came back in ready to go, gave me great directions on how to push, and at 11:49 a.m., Davis was born.

Lots of women talk about feeling a lot of pressure and stuff even with the epidural. I honestly felt hardly anything. I could feel something when he came completely out, but other than that I was gladly completely numb.

Right after he was born I watched Chuck cut the cord, Davis let out a couple good screams, and then they laid him on my chest. I was a little emotional, but more than anything I was just in awe that all of this had happened to me. And that this little baby lying on my chest was mine. It was, and still is, all very surreal. And it's weird to think that next time I do this, I'll know more what to expect. Everything this time around was so fresh and new and unchartered.

Soon after, they took Davis over to his nurse and she cleaned him up, did some little tests, etc etc etc, and I remember just watching closely as he scaled the room with his big eyes. He didn't make a peep. Just looked around at the people there - he seemed so content. I got to hold him once more, after I was stitched all up, and then they took him off to the nursery for his first bath. AND they needed to get him to cry. Apparently getting him to cry was a struggle... he was just very content to look around and observe. For the most part this adequately describes his litte personality... except when he's hungry. Then he gets cranky...  ;-)

After he was taken to the nursery, the doc finished up with me - telling me that ice was going to be my best friend for a few days - and the nurses moved me into another bed and wheeled me into the post partem room. As they wheeled me into my recovery room, we went past the waiting room and I said hello to all of our parents as they wheeled me by.

And that's the story . . . I've documented the next two days in the hospital, but I won't bore all of you with that. :-)

Dos

Yes, TECHNICALLY this little baby is still allowed two more weeks of cooking time. But, I'm sending the eviction notice today. Time to come out!

On a bright note, last night I slept for almost seven full hours without having to wrestle myself out of bed to use the commode. THAT was fantastic.

Sunday Sunshine

1. Showers: Saturday marked the end of my baby showers. It's been a great few weeks with friends and family and lots of things for the little boy. Chuck has been an expert organizer after every shower, and honestly, has done more "nesting" than I. The nursery is looking great and is now pretty well stocked. We'll be taking inventory this week and buying and last minute items. And then? We wait.

Thank you to everyone who made Chuck, me, and baby feel so loved and special!

2. Winter: I have missed the snow this year. Don't get me wrong, I totally loved today's springtime weather, but I REALLY loved the snow this past week. There hasn't been enough of it this season, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. (Especially since I don't have to go anywhere. I just stay in my warm house and admire the snowfall - Lovely.)

3. Soul Food: As I blog tonight I am watching the 25th Anniversary Concert of "Phantom of the Opera." Mmmmm. Delish. I've spent a lot of time at home lately, therefore I've had TIME to listen and sing along to my musicals. Oh, how I have missed the gloriousness of musical theatre filling my daily life. It feeds me.

4. Domesticity: This week I finished two changing pad covers and a little quilt for baby. Ha! Don't look too closely or you'll see my thoroughly amateur skills, but hey- for my first tries, I'll deal with it.

5. 19 DAYS.

3

Yippee.

We're down to three weeks. Hooray! Yesterday Baby Keeler dropped and I am THRILLED that I can breathe again! I'd forgotten what I was missing. Glorious air. Weird thing is that I also slept better last night than I have in weeks. I'll take it!

The last few weeks have been filled with baby showers and me taking a stab at domesticity.

Perhaps in time I will laugh at myself for saying this, but I LOVE staying home. I LOVE doing what I want on my timetable. If I want to sew, I sew. If I want to sleep, I sleep. If I want to clean, I clean. And for now, there is time for practically all of it. It is heaven.

Yes, throwing the kid into the mix will alter things a bit, but in my idealistic head I see myself taking care of baby, cleaning the house, going on lots of walks/runs in the summertime, and doing whatever we - the itty bitty one- and I feel like. I can totally go for that.

Then again, I am a homebody. I would rather be home than anywhere else. In sweats and a t-shirt, and hair in a ponytail. That is happy to me.

And then sometimes I'm driving on I-15 and see billboards all over of a show I could be starring in... and that stings a little.

And then I get over it. :-)

Sunny Day

1. We're down to less than five weeks now, folks. Hip-hip HOORAY! In two weeks I am considered "full term," and do you know what that means? Momma here sends out an eviction notice and begins taking measures to get the little guy OUT. (Because of this attitude I am sure to be doomed to deliver a week or more late . . . but hey- one can dream, right? Breathing is hard, sleeping is practically impossible, and I love that bathroom breaks consist of a good majority of my day. On the flip side - I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed my evenings which now faithfully consist of a bubble bath. For Valentine's Day Chuck got me a bunch of fantastic "sleep" aromatherapy products from Bath and Body Works, and lo and behold, they do wonders! THIS is my favorite:

I highly recommend this little jar of happiness.

2. Domestication: Last week I finished this beauty:

And THIS week I will finish a little tie quilt and pillows to match. (Pillows from IKEA - covers made with the help of this site) Our baby will soon have a complete room - we just need to stock it up with products and we'll be set! (Thank heaven for baby showers . . . getting ready for baby is not so cheap - well, at least the way we're doing it.  ;-) )  Remember how we used to go on like five vacays a year? Yeah- now you know where THAT money is going! (OK- let's be honest - Chuck and I have found GREAT deals on KSL and at other stores with the things we've been doing - TECHNICALLY we've done this pretty inexpensively considering it all...)

3. Heart: I love me some Valentine's Day. I made Chuck breakfast (pink heart shaped pancakes, eggs, fruit), he gave me aforementioned body products and candy, and we had dinner at Carrabbas - it was the best night out we'd had in awhile. No distractions (PHONES, COMPUTERS, ETC. - UGH), just time with my favorite person, great food, and even dessert at Menchies at the end of the night. Perfection.

4. Meowsies:

I just love my cat. He is a mean kitty - but I still love him. (And doesn't he look just fetching in this lovely pink bow? Ha!)

5. Bosom Buddies: I had a great weekend with friends. Friday night was spent in Farmington with girls I've know for mostly far beyond half of my life, and Saturday I was able to see and be spoiled by many other friends who are near and dear to me. I am grateful for all of these ladies in my life. I have a tender spot in my heart for every single one of them. Happy, happy memories with all of them. I am blessed.

6. "Girl Trust Your Feelings..." : This week's obsession was with Whitney Houston. In the same manner as after Michael Jackson died, I found myself searching YouTube for the brilliance.

Ahhhhh, memories of sixth grade come flooding back to me... She was the one popstar I knew existed. (This girl was raised on Broadway musicals, Barry Manilow, and Neil Diamond, thank you very much!)

And yes, this song came out in 1991, but I didn't discover true love for it till 1998 - my senior year - So, in typical Amy fashion, I was a few years late. :-)  Thank you, Lace and Mr. Everton . . .  I particularly enjoy that the "choir" in this video is cuddling in one gigantic Snuggie.

7. Pearly Whites: I had a nightmare last night about one of my teeth busting and being a bloody mess. Waking up to my non-damaged teeth made me happy on this early Sunday morning.

And that concludes this week's happies.

Sunshine

1. One Step at a Time: Each Saturday we work a bit more on the nursery. While I was at Kaitlyn's shower on Saturday, Chuck created these for the wall above the crib. The artwork was taken from a children's book that we found in the basement, and Chuck had the mattes cut and then framed it all himself. The room is tarting together... this week the goal is to get the crib skirt made...

http://www.domesticadventure.com/2010/10/how-to-make-a-crib-skirt/

Easy. That's what I need!

2. ONE WEEK! I have gone an entire week without a nosebleed. THAT- considering my record of having at least four per day for about two months - is a miracle. Oh, how grateful I am.

3. No Control: I need sweets. I love them. Control is not something I have right now. I wonder, had I HAD control and been good and eaten veggies and nuts and stuff, if I'd be on the LOWER end of "average weight gain" for pregnancy than on the HIGHER end. Meh. Remember how I'm running a half marathon next January? Yeah . . . I'll have control AND work out . . . later. (Am I going to be shooting myself over this attitude in twelve weeks?????)

POINT IS THAT I FOUND THIS:

http://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2010/01/chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-truffles.html

Yum.

4. Less: Less work.  Less mileage on my car. Fewer fill-ups for Sophie (and fewer dollars coming out of my checking account!) Less stress.

In my case right now, LESS IS MORE. And I love it.

5. Job: Chuck's job is great. I am grateful for it. We got a fantastic bonus this week and it feels WONDERFUL to have a little nest egg waiting for us in case we need more than what we have already saved up for baby's medical expenses. :-)

And if we don't? We will finally get furniture for our TV room. When we have people over they may actually have somewhere to sit!

6. Taxes: Next year we can claim a kid. THAT will be - really great.

7. Pedi: Had a pedi and afternoon out with Hilly a couple weeks ago. I always tell Chuck that if we ever have an obnoxious amount of money someday, the first thing I will spend it on is spa treatments two to three times per week. Pedis, massages, manis . . . And I will have a personal trainer. And a nutritionist. And a cook. And probably someone to do our laundry.

Yep.

Still Counting Down...

Somehow I missed last week's #8.

Ah well... 7 weeks till baby is due!

We need to get that nursery done...

I've spent the last few days reading this:

Thanks, Andrea, for the recommendation. More thoughts to come.

Sunshine

1. The above light has been the bane of my existence the past few months. I knew what the problem was, but didn't want to deal with the money it would cost to fix it.  I knew it wasn't ruining my car or anything, so I just drove... and drove.  Bah. I hate that light. Anyway, with some extra time on my hands this week, I was able to spend time in Ogden with my fantastic Daddy who fixed some much needed things on my Sophie. As of yesterday, no more CEL and I am extremely grateful for a dad who knows how to get in there and tear things apart and get them back together. Eh- the car was just an excuse for some good daddy/daughter time.  :-)

2. Tis the season for THESE:
Take note that not just ANY candy heart can satisfy me - MUST BE SWEETART HEARTS. Mmmm. I love, love, love them.

3.

Thanks to Ethan for satisfying my ice cream needs this week...

4. Chuck was out of town all week long. I didn't sleep well, my nosebleeds were out of control, and I was lonesome. He got back yesterday. And that makes me happy. Things are much better with him around.

5. Did you know that I got a sewing machine for Christmas? I did. And I haven't touched it yet. BUT this week I got inspired by a project that looks simple enough to start with. Straight lines. Yeah. I'll figure out a boy version of this:

6. With Chuck back we'll get back to putting the nursery together. I found some good fabrics for bedding - so with the help of some family, he may just get some bedding in the near future.

7. And last, but not least - Counting down... TWO MONTHS left!

Single Digits

Down to single digits. Nine weeks to go...

What'd I do this week to prepare? Mmmmm... not a ton. :-) I rested a lot, and today, for the first time in a month, I went 24 hours without a nosebleed.

THANK. HEAVEN.

In all honestly, I have had a fairly easy pregnancy, and I am thrilled about that. But for some reason my pregnancy plague is nose bleeds. I was prone to them before, but seriously? We're talking gushing blood four to five times per day. The average one lasts about a half hour. Boooooooo.

I use a humidifier. I use Vaseline. I use nasal salines. Sigh. This week I was ready to walk into the doc and demand they cauterize it... (I've had that done before...)

Meh.

But on a happy note: I'm close to finding fabrics for baby's bedding. It's taken awhile because we're pretty picky and don't have a "theme." Thank heaven I have family members who can sew - my skills are below minimal and it's a big project to take on when you *don't have a clue *.  Here's to learning!

Soft

"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let the pain make you hate.
Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness.
Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree,
you still believe it to be a beautiful place."

I've pondered on this quote a lot this past weekend. I repinned it from a friend on Pinterest, and I find it right up the alley with where I am trying to go in my life.

Very few people, if anyone, that I am well aquainted with, would describe me as a "soft" person. I am highly opinionated (and rarely choose to withhold those opinions), I am judgmental, and I am a bit hardened to feelings and emotions (beit mine own or those of others). For whatever reasons - and I will partially blame life's experiences (though I know I shouldn't...), I come off as a bit of a "tough cookie." To be perfectly honest, I've been proud of that for a long time. Part of those personality traits make me a hard worker, a go getter, and a girl who can actually stand going to a public restroom by herself. I'm quite the independent, and I do what I want when I want to do it. Don't mess with me.

The question is, though, is that how I WANT to be seen? Is that how I WANT others to perceive me? AND, most importantly, is that who I REALLY am? I look at the women whom I admire and aspire to be like, and none of them are *those kind* of women.

Hmmmm.

Pondering on this subject reminded me of another quote that I'd heard and read in several different places:

Margaret D. Nadauld, Young Women General President: “The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity” (“The Joy of Womanhood,” Ensign, Nov. 2000, 15).

Tender. Kind. Refined. Faith. Goodness. Those are qualities I want; the ones I want to be seen. The strange thing is that oft times, those qualities are, by worldly standards, considered "weak" - and being perceived as WEAK absolutely mortifies me. Therein lies the dilemma.

I must retrain my thoughts.

Written word to further inspire me - Proverbs 31:10-31 . And a talk- Charity Never Faileth, given by President Thomas S. Monson during a time in 2010 where cynicism ran quickly through my veins. I'll admit that I haven't quite recovered from the events of that year that plagued - and continue to plague - our family members. Those events, along with other tragedies that I seem to constantly witness from the outside, have toughened me up even more. It's a work in progress, you know, trying to turn the cynicism to actions of tenderness, kindness, and refined behavior.

I'm working on it all.

There are those - few and far between - who do see the "soft" side of Amy - I suppose I should give myself credit... Perhaps this whole thought process is just MY form of "nesting."  This little person coming into our lives surely does not deserve to have my rough and tough, cynical nature imposed upon him.

... I just don't think that it's a GOOD thing when the "person" in my life who sees the "tender me" most often is a furry friend named Gilbert.   ;-)

Ten Weeks

Today marks ten weeks till the fetus is scheduled to join us. That's * ALMOST * single digits. Huh. I need to start reading more about what to do with a baby...

He thoroughly enjoys resting his foot on the right side of my rib cage, and as I learned on Wednesday night, he is fascinated by the noises of cheering crowds (he went to his first pro sports event - Jazz VS Lakers - that night). He has been on post holiday detox the last few weeks, and I think I have figured out that he is a pretty calm kiddo when he's not pumped full of sugar. Making a mental note of that...

So here we are - ten weeks - and lots to do.

I think I will take a nap.

Sunday Sunshine

Yeah- when's the last time I did one of these posts? I'm not even sure.

1. Looking on the bright side here... 9 AM church: Chuck begins meetings at 6 AM. I'm up by a little after 7 (cringe), but by about 12:30 or so we get to come home, eat, and veg for the rest of the day if that's what we so choose. That part is great! And with our upcoming lifestyle change in a few weeks, I think that 9 AM won't cramp my style so much.  :-)

2. There is Nothing Like a Dame:

My mom, sister, grandma, and I saw the touring company of "South Pacific" at the Capitol Theatre on Thursday night. Ah, how I love the brilliance of a well done, Golden Age musical.

3. Motivation: Yesterday was the Walt Disney World half marathon. I had a few friends participate in it and Amy here gets the big idea of, "Oooooooo. I can do that!" So, the goal is to run that half marathon next January in Orlando. Hopefully this baby coming smoothly and I can start training and telling myself that I love running. And after the half marathon I will eat around the world at EPCOT. And also have a PB and J shake from the 50s Prime Time Diner in the Hollywood Studios. And I will eat at Ohana. Yes.

4. Mobile: I bought this little gem on Etsy yesterday. Should look lovely with what we've got going for our little nursery...

5. Election: Call me nuts, but I enjoy election coverage. I find it horrifying and fascinating all at the same time.

6. Snowflakes: We got a few of them this week - a very few, but I enjoyed it. It felt like Christmas should have been right around the corner rather than behind the corner. Hmmmm. At least I'm not on the regular "over winter burnout" per as usual in January. I'll be fine with snow for a few more months. Wish I could go sledding.

Good Sabbath, everyone!

Today

My Current Loves:

1. Blog2Print.com: I have six years (exactly 700 posts!) of blogging to get printed. The formatting is not perfect, but right now I just want to get them into book form. Perhaps when I am printing smaller bits I'll get fancier and choose a site with your own formatting options, but for now, this is perfect. I have four books to print. It'll cost over $300. But know what's cool????  THEY SELL GIFT CARDS! (http://www.sharedbookstore.com/b2p.html :-)  I totally dig that. Too bad Christmas just passed...

2. Naps. I love having time for naps, if I so choose to take one.

3. Time for Projects: I'm currently working hard, with the Primary Presidency, to get everything in order for the insanity that will occur on Sunday morning at about 10:10 AM.  Our ward only held Sacrament Meeting last Sunday, so this week begins the new year. New classes and teachers and lots of new fun.  We're working on reverence in our Primary, so I've created this chart that will aid in that endeavor. As they're reverent and make it to each "landmark," they'll have an activity or handout that goes along with that picture. I found some pretty cute things online - so we'll see how it goes.

4. E-Mealz.com: My cousin's wife had mentioned this site to me a couple years back, but Andrea reminded and referred me to it back in June. Aaaaand it took me until October to jump on the bandwagon (that whole NO TIME thing was really cramping my lifestyle apparently!) I LOVE THIS SITE. I'm totally into someone giving me a list of things to buy and telling me how to make it all into meals. Now I don't have to worry about what to make for dinner every night. We were on enchilada/spaghetti/hawaiian haystack burnout. Hooray for new, pretty tasty ideas! (AND I only paid $15 for a three month subscription. Yup. Points won!) Want me to send you a referral? I think so!!!

5. Pinterest: Yep. Love this site too. Oh the lovely things I am finding...

6. Crib: We bought a crib. The one I WANTED was $400 and we decided to be frugal and spend that money on some other things... BUT we found this one - it's comparable and the price was fantastic. Our baby will have somewhere to sleep.

Gilbert has begun thinking that all of the new things that come into the house are his. Huh - Wonder where he got that idea.

I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus

Never have I cared much for David Archuleta - not that I disliked him, I was just somewhat indifferent. HOWEVER, in the last few weeks I've been thoroughly impressed by the kid. He's reminded me that some people can live in the showbiz world and "choose the right," if you will. This video is just beautiful.

2012

The months just seem to fly by more and more quickly lately- which, I suppose, is a GOOD thing considering that in just two and a half months this baby is scheduled to make his appearance. Hello, 2012. You're bound to be an adventure...

Somehow I managed to gain only three pounds over the holidays - which is practically a miracle considering the way I ate, and the fact that this baby grew enough to finally make me LOOK pregnant.  I've never been one to care what I weigh - as long as I feel good and look decent life is ok - But I tell ya, stepping on that scale once a month at the doctor KNOWING that they're scrutinizing your weight gain will make anyone feel unsettled. (Especially when you know that the candy and complete junk food that you've been gorging yourself on for months is a no-no in the world of prego books where they tell you to eat lots of spinach, nuts, and soy. YUCK.)

11 more weeks...

I finished my job at the bridal store. I'm only working six hours a week at my other job, and I'm teaching one class at the Scera. Do you know what this means? I. HAVE. TIME. This week has been utterly blissful as I have taken down everything Christmas, cleaned out closets, formatted my six years of blogging into book format . . . I LOVE being home. (Remind me of this in a few months when the walls of this place are all I see.) This is how I feel about my life right now - and it is GLORIOUS.

Oh. I have also spent my time finding pedicure deals on Groupon - as to save my husband from having to paint my toes too much in the next few months...  Aren't I so nice to him?

We found a great deal on a travel system and swing for our little fetus - and what do we do with it?

Gilbert will be thrilled once this baby comes and he gets ignored...

We went on an amazing cruise back in October. (Yeah, OCTOBER- we're WAY behind here, folks...)

Cabo San Lucas with Hilly and Tavnir. LOVED this port - and the whole itinerary. We didn't have high expectations for Mexico, but lo and behold, we enjoyed it JUST as much as the Caribbean. And the water was WARMER - which is always a perk in my book.

Two cruises in a year.  Guess that makes up for things if we don't get on one in 2012, eh?  :-)

Yes, our travel will be limited this year, but hopefully we can get on with that whole "buying furniture" thing that I've had on the agenda for about a year now. Furniture - Vacations . . . mmmmm .  .  . Trips won out in 2011. 2012 : Maybe after three years in this house we can stop looking like such newlyweds... maybe.

Mr. Ben the Bachelor - I'm glad the show is back but you have some trashy girls this time around. Ikk. Not sure how much I'll be able to stand...

Pinterest is fun. And we got a hot chocolate maker that we thoroughly enjoy. And I also like 55 degrees in January. It's nice.

This was a fun project :  (Top: Before, Middle: Photoshopped version, Bottom: Finished!)

Soon we will hang things on the walls and have a place for him to sleep...

Happy New Year!

In case anyone is looking for something to do tomorrow (New Year's Eve) in the early evening hours, I'm performing at the Tabernacle from about 6:30-7:30.  I'll be doing a couple songs from Broadway shows (Wicked and Thoroughly Modern Millie), and there will be lots of other lovely voices singing as well.  Short notice, I know, but I thought I'd post in case anyone doesn't have set in stone plans.  :-)
